Wireless sensor networks are generally composed of a large number of hardware devices of the same type, deployed over a region of interest in order to perform a monitoring activity on a set of target points. Nowadays, several different types of sensor devices exist, which are able to monitor different aspects of the region of interest (including sound, vibrations, proximity, chemical contaminants, among others) and may be deployed together in a heterogeneous network. In this work, we face the problem of maximizing the amount of time during which such a network can remain operational, while maintaining at all times a minimum coverage guarantee for all the different sensor types. Some global regularity conditions in order to guarantee a fair level of coverage for each sensor type to each target are also taken into account in a second variant of the proposed problem. For both problem variants we developed an exact approach, which is based on a column generation algorithm whose subproblem is either solved heuristically by means of a genetic algorithm or optimally by an appropriate ILP formulation. In our computational tests the proposed genetic algorithm is shown to be able to dramatically speed up the procedure, enabling the resolution of large-scale instances within reasonable computational times. 相似文献

To date, a large part of workers is exposed to vibrations (23% in Europe) which can negatively impact on their health. This work discusses the importance of measuring grip and push forces in the context of hand-arm vibration tests, bearing in mind the state-of-art of current standards. It proposes a method for indirect measurement of coupling forces using a matrix of polymeric pressure capacitive sensors and discusses the model used for defining these quantities. The matrix of pressure sensors is wrapped around the tool handle and the acting forces, exchanged with the handle, are derived from the pressure values measured by the matrix. Calibration is presented and the effect of curvature is discussed. The work continues with the experimental validation of the model proposed for push force measurements carried out through lifting tests using known masses with a cylindrical handle. An experimental correction coefficient is defined in correlation to the type of grip. The method for measuring the push force, thus corrected, is assessed by means of push force tests on an instrumented handle. Finally the experimental data are analysed in order to assess the uncertainty of the proposed method for measuring the push force, highlighting the contribution of the different sources of uncertainty. The proposed measurement method allows to measure the push and the grip force (known influencing quantities for the measurement of the hand-arm vibration) during tool test and without modifying the handles. 相似文献

Up-to-date information on urban air pollution is of great importance for environmental protection agencies to assess air quality and provide advice to the general public in a timely manner. In particular, ultrafine particles (UFPs) are widely spread in urban environments and may have a severe impact on human health. However, the lack of knowledge about the spatio-temporal distribution of UFPs hampers profound evaluation of these effects. In this paper, we analyze one of the largest spatially resolved UFP data set publicly available today containing over 50 million measurements. We collected the measurements throughout more than two years using mobile sensor nodes installed on top of public transport vehicles in the city of Zurich, Switzerland. Based on these data, we develop land-use regression models to create pollution maps with a high spatial resolution of 100 m × 100 m. We compare the accuracy of the derived models across various time scales and observe a rapid drop in accuracy for maps with sub-weekly temporal resolution. To address this problem, we propose a novel modeling approach that incorporates past measurements annotated with metadata into the modeling process. In this way, we achieve a 26% reduction in the root-mean-square error–a standard metric to evaluate the accuracy of air quality models–of pollution maps with semi-daily temporal resolution. We believe that our findings can help epidemiologists to better understand the adverse health effects related to UFPs and serve as a stepping stone towards detailed real-time pollution assessment. 相似文献

More and more mobile devices such as smartphones are being used with IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs or Wi-Fi). However, mobile users are still experiencing poor service quality on the move due to the large handoff delay and packet loss problem. In order to reduce the delay, a new handoff scheme using the geomagnetic sensor embedded in mobile devices is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme predicts the movement direction of a Mobile Station (MS) from the currently associated Access Point (AP) and performs active scanning with a reduced number of channels. In terms of the packet loss, a lightweight retransmission protocol is also proposed to minimize lost packets on Wi-Fi without producing a lot of acknowledgement packets. The proposed approaches are implemented on Android smartphones, and their performance is evaluated in a real indoor WLAN environment. The evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed schemes maintain seamless quality for real-time video even in an environment with frequent handoffs. Note that the proposed schemes are a client-only solution and do not require modification of the existing APs, which renders them very practical. 相似文献

In line with the pervasive vision, pervasive sensing allows the provision of ubiquitous and pervasive monitoring and heterogeneous data collection. In the past decade, two dominant pervasive sensing paradigms have emerged: a mostly human-free paradigm centered around wireless sensor networks and a human-centric paradigm fueled by the rise of personal smart devices (smartphones and wearables). Given a fault‐tolerance strategy and a distributed control system, the set of recoverable faults depends on the information pattern that is implemented. This paper shows that fault‐tolerance can be achieved, when possible, by the reconfiguration of the information pattern. A necessary and sufficient recoverability condition is provided, and sub‐optimal solutions are developed for actuator and sensor faults under system reconfiguration. 为解决超差双翻斗式雨量传感器在检定校准时精细定量调测问题,尤其针对:在大小雨强(4mm/min和1mm/min)测试时超差值为一正一负,目前只能通过目测观察法并依靠经验对容量调节螺母和定位螺母进行调节,这存在着一定的盲目性并且成功率低。提出了一套检定流程并利用红外光电传感器和步进电机模块,实现了上翻斗和计量翻斗的左右斗的翻动数据的定量测量以及定位螺母和容量调节螺母的自动调节,并且可自动记录和上传检定数据到上位机。结果表明:本系统能有效地判定和解决翻斗翻动平衡和协调性问题,并可为业务人员积累检定数据以便后续分析处理。 相似文献
